Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis: Degenerative Disc/Joint Disease

Osteoarthritis: Degenerative Disc/Joint Disease, is also known as degenerative arthritis, and wear-and-tear arthritis. It most often occurs in weight bearing joints of the body, such as hip, knee, and spine, but can occur in any joint. It is characterized by loss of articular cartilage and subchondral bone. Symptoms can include joints stiffness (usually in the morning), joint pain, tenderness, inflammation, and creaking or locking of joints. The cause it not well understood but is thought to be a combination of hereditary, metabolic, developmental, and mechanical forces.Laser treatments will be targeted at the affected joint and will stimulate cells responsible for maintaining and building cartilage that is lost due to arthritis. As well, a rehabilitation program will give the joints stability and enable them to withstand further wear and tear that occurs from everyday use.
