At a glance.

BACK IN BALANCE Clinic treats both claim types under one roof: motor vehicle accident injuries funded through your auto insurance, and workplace injuries funded through WSIB.

Chiropractors are primary-contact providers in Ontario, so you can book an accident assessment at BACK IN BALANCE without a physician's referral for either claim type.

Every Ontario auto policy includes accident benefits that fund treatment after a collision, regardless of who was at fault.

BACK IN BALANCE direct-bills auto insurers and WSIB wherever the claim allows, and completes the treatment plan and provider reporting for you.

Accident assessments at BACK IN BALANCE include concussion screening, because a collision can concuss you without your head ever hitting anything.

Two systems

MVA or WSIB — which system are you in?

The treatment is largely the same. The funding is not. An injury from a collision is paid for by the accident benefits in your own auto policy, which every Ontario policy carries regardless of who was at fault. An injury that happened at work is paid for by WSIB. Different forms, different timelines, different people to talk to — and it is the part patients most often get stuck on.

You don't have to work it out before you book. Bring whatever you have — a claim number, an adjuster's name, or just the story — and we sort the claim side out with you at the first visit. What matters clinically is getting assessed early, because that both documents the injury properly and starts treatment while it responds best.

A car accident

Your own auto insurer funds treatment through accident benefits, no matter who caused the collision. We complete the treatment plan forms, deal with your adjuster, and bill the insurer directly where the claim allows.

An injury at work

WSIB funds the care. You report the injury to your employer; we complete the provider reporting tied to your treatment, keep your functional abilities up to date, and bill WSIB directly on approved claims.

A crash while working

Driving for work when it happened puts you in both systems at once, and which one applies is not obvious. Tell us at the first visit and we'll work out where the claim belongs before paperwork goes anywhere.

What to expect

Your first visit.

  1. 01

Book, with or without a claim number

Book online or call and say it was a car accident or a workplace injury. No referral is needed for either. If you haven't opened a claim yet, come anyway — the steps are short and we walk patients through them every week.

  2. 02

    A full assessment, documented properly

Plan for 45–60 minutes: the history of the accident, an orthopedic and neurological examination, concussion screening where the mechanism warrants it, and a plain-language explanation of what was injured. That record is also what your claim runs on.

  3. 03

Treatment the same visit, and the forms started

Where it's appropriate you're treated the same day, and you leave with a written care plan and your first exercises. We start the claim paperwork with you at the clinic and bill the insurer or WSIB directly wherever the claim allows.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on where it happened, not on how badly you're hurt. Injuries from a collision are funded by the accident benefits in your own Ontario auto policy, regardless of fault. Injuries that happen at work are funded by WSIB. The treatment overlaps almost completely; the forms, timelines and billing do not, and we handle both.
